On 14th of november children’s day is celebrated all over india, it is the day dedicated to the children of our nation, it is celebrated in the memory of Pandit Jawaharlal nehru the first prime minister of india.

Before 1964 children’s day was celebrated on 20th november world wide, it was observed by the universal children’s day by united nation.

on this day orphan children were given gifts, programs were arranged for them.

But after the death of nehruji who was also known as ‘chacha nehru‘ among children, the day to celebrate as children’s day was shifted to 14th of november also known as ‘BAL DIWAS‘ as nehruji birthday was on 14th of November..

This was a tribute to pandit nehruji due to his love and affection towards children.

On this day schools organise debates, dance and other education/entertainment related programs for specially children as this day is dedicated to the children.

Pandit nehru once said “The children of today will make the india of tommorow. The way we bring them up will determine the future of the country.

Keen on the development and education of children in the country pandit nehru oversaw the establishment of some of the most prominent educational institutions in india. His vision for the development of youth played a major role in setting up of the ‘All india institute of medical sciences’ or AIIMS and the indian institute of technology or IIT.

He even initiated the establishment of the indian institutes of management.

Pandit nehru a world leader and great politician also left behind a legacy of education and development of children in the country, and we cannot calculate his popularity as a freedom fighter as well as the first prime minister of independent india. He continued to be on the post of p.m for 16 years 286 days. No further prime minister has been seen to continue as p.m for this long period.

We cannot forget his role in building india and november 14 is celebrated as a tribute to him.
