Piyush Goyal issues fiat to end VIP culture in railways; don’t line up to greet board chairman
Railway Minister Piyush Goyal has ready for the elimination of VIP culture in the Railways. By taking unprecedented steps, the Ministry of Railways has terminated a 36-year-old protocol. Under this protocol, “Maha Managers were required to be present at the time of their arrival and departure during the zonal visit of the Chairman of Railway Board and other members of the Board. Along with this, senior officials have been told that they should immediately stop the domestic work from the staff.
In order to eliminate VIP culture in the Ministry, the Railway Board has decided to abolish the instructions issued in a circular of 1981. This circular itself was the protocol.
The Ministry has said in the order on September 28 that the instructions and guidelines issued to the Railways in relation to protocols to be adopted at the airports and railway stations during the visits of the Railway Board Chairman and other members of the Board are withdrawn with immediate effect. .
Railway Board chairman Ani Lohani said that any officer will no longer be given bouquet and gifts.
Senior railway officials will have to follow such restrictions not only in the office but also at home. All the top executives have to free all the railway staff in their homes as domestic workers.
Officials said that about 30 thousand trackmen work on the senior officers’ homes. They have been asked to return to the service.
Ministry sources said that in the last one month about six to seven thousand people have returned to work. A senior official of the ministry said, “No one will be exempted from returning to work.” This exemption will be granted only in very special circumstances, we are hoping that all the workers will return to work soon.
Railway Minister Piyush Goyal has asked senior officials to stop traveling in the executive category and travel with other passengers in sleeper and AC three-tier category coaches. These senior officers include the members of the Railway Board, the General Manager of the Railway Zone and the Railway Manager of all the 50 posts.
