Anupam Kher appointed as the chairman of The Film and Television Institute of India, replaces Gajendra Chauhan

Bollywood actor Anupam Kher will be the new chairman of the Film and TV Institute of India (FTII) Pune. Their appointment has been announced on Wednesday. He was awarded Padma Shri in 2004 and Padma Bhushan in 2016. Anupam’s wife Kiran Kher is a BJP MP from Chandigarh.

Anupam will replace Gajendra Chauhan. Gajendra was appointed Chairman of FTII on June 9, 2015 by NDA Government. Then there was a lot of resistance to his appointment. The students protest against for about 139 days.

Anupam has worked in more than 500 films and theater play. He has also been associated with many international films. His international film ‘Bend It Like Beckham’ was nominated for the Golden Globe in 2002. Anupam has won five Best Actor Filmfare awards for a comic role. Anupam Kher, who is a student of the National School of Drama, is also the chairman of the Actors Prepares Institute. Anupam Kher, born in the Kashmiri family, debuted in Bollywood in 1982.




When Anupam Kher was selected for the post, Kiran Kher congratulated her on Twitter. Kiran tweeted, “Congratulations on becoming a FTII Chairman, I know you will do great work.”
