bihar:SuMo accuses another Lalu daughter of unexplained acquisition of property

senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi (SuMo), alleged here on Saturday that Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Lalu Prasad’s fifth daughter, Hema Yadav, received 7.75 decimal of land worth Rs 62 lakh as an unexplained gift from a man named Lallan Choudhary, on February 13, 2014.

This was the latest in a series of exposes done by Modi, a former deputy chief minister of Bihar, over the past 40-odd days, purporting to show how members of Prasad’s immediate family had come to acquire firms and landed property in a manner that was unexplained.

The latest expose came on the eve of the RJD national president’s 70 th birthday, to be celebrated on Sunday.

Hema is the fifth member of Lalu’s immediate family, who Modi said, had acquired property in an unexplained manner.

Earlier, the BJP leader had named in this context Prasad’s wife and former CM Rabri Devi, his two sons Tej Pratap and Tejashwi Yadav, both ministers in the Nitish Kumar government and his eldest daughter Misa Bharti, a Rajya Sabha member.

Modi said just days ahead of gifting land to Hema, the same Choudhary, had, on January 25, 2014, gifted Rabri Devi his pucca house, with land measuring 2.5 decimal, at Naya Tola under Danapur police station in Patna district, worth over Rs 30.80 lakh.

“Barely 19 days after this deal, Choudhary donated 7.75 decimal of land to Lalu’s fifth daughter, Hema Yadav,” Modi told mediapersons on Saturday.

Modi alleged that Choudhary, whose name figures in BPL list of Siyadih panchayat of Barhariya in Siwan district, in these 19 days, “donated property worth Rs 1 crore to Rabri Devi and her daughter Hema.”

“It’s a matter of investigation as to how Choudhary, who got his house constructed through Indira Awaas Yojana housing scheme for the rural poor, and who has been working in Lalu’s farm house, feeding animals, acquired Rs 1 crore worth of property and under what circumstances he gifted his property to Lalu’s family,” said Modi.

Modi asked Lalu’s family to disclose the identity of Choudhary and explain the circumstances under which a man from Siwan gifted his immovable asset to Devi. “The family should also make it public how the deal benefited Choudhary and from where he (Choudhary) got the money to buy the property,” he added.

“Lalu’s family should clear the doubts or else people will believe that it is their benami property tthat was bought in the name of Lalan Choudhary,” he said.

The former deputy chief minister said since the matter fell under the jurisdiction of the Bihar government, CM Nitish Kumar should order a probe into it or else the matter would be placed before the income tax department.
