bihar:in Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences( IGMS) launches transplant from Dussehra

Patna: Permission for transplanting of fourth type of organ in the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IIGMS) is being obtained. A four-member team, headed by Director, Health Services, Dr. Azad Hind Prasad, on Thursday started the inspection of the institute for starting Liver Transplant from Dussehra. The team has submitted its report to the Principal Secretary of Health Department.

With this, it will be the first institute to transplant four types of organ in the state. It is already being transplanted in the cornea, kidneys. The institution has been given permission for a compliant implant for dumb and deaf children by the state government. Now this institute will also start working on transplanting the liver.

Dr. Shishir Kumar, Assistant Professor of Gastroenterology Department of PMCH, Dr. Vimal Mukesh of General Surgery Department and Prof. Dr. B.K. Prasad, Professor of Anesthesia Department, with the Director of Head, Dr. Azad Hind Prasad, in the Institute, Operation Theater, Post Operative Room, Pre-operative Room, Donor Inspect all kinds of basic and specialty structures including room, recovery room. ICU buildings and rooms are ready for liver transplants in the institute.

For this, the institute has been inspected by the central team of the Organ Transplant Center on June 24. The ICU standards will be determined by the central team itself. Based on this, the internal facilities of the ICU will be established, where the beds are to be placed, where the oxygen pipes will look, where the ventilator will be located will be determined by the central team. During the inspection, the institute’s director Dr N R Biswas, medical officer Dr Manish Mandal and other specialists were present.

It is being told that a liver patient will spend about 20 lakh rupees on the transplant. In view of the financial condition of the patients, the state government has agreed on financial assistance of Rs. 15 lakhs.
