Vice Presidential election today, victory of Venkaiah Naidu is almost certain

New Delhi: With enough number of forces, it is almost certain that NDA (National Democratic Alliance) candidate Venkaiah Naidu becomes Vice-President. After Bhairon Singh Shekhawat he will be the second Vice President with the background of RSS. In the elections to be held for the post of Vice President on July 5, BJP’s leader Naidu is contesting from Opposition Gopalkrishna Gandhi. Naidu is in a very good position among the 787-member effective electoral college of both houses of the Parliament. The NDA has got a clear majority in the Lok Sabha and some political parties in south India also have the support.

There are 543 members in the Lok Sabha and 244 in the Rajya Sabha. Two seats are vacant in the Lok Sabha and one in the Rajya Sabha. According to BJP officials, in addition to 81 members of NDA Rajya Sabha and 338 members of Lok Sabha, 50 members of AIADMK, 10 from YSR Congress and 14 members of Telangana Rashtra Samiti in both Houses will vote in favor of Naidu.

In this way Naidu with 493 members support naidu  will   easily cross the required data of 394. BJP is expected to get 500 votes. The grandson of Mahatma Gandhi, former West Bengal Governor and former diplomat Gopalakrishna Gandhi is a candidate for the opposition. They have the support of Congress, Left, Nationalist Congress Party, DMK, Trinamool Congress, Bahujan Samaj Party and National Conference.

Now the Janata Dal (U), which has joined NDA, has also announced support for Gandhi. Gandhi does not expect to get even half of the required votes. The Rajya Sabha Secretariat has completed all the preparations for the elections to be held on Saturday. The term of the present Vice President and Rajya Sabha Speaker Hamid Ansari ends on August 10. He has been in the post from 11th August 2007. On August 11, 2012, he was again elected to this post.
