LIVE: Venkaiah Naidu becomes country’s 13th Vice-President, Ramnath Kovind administered oath

New Delhi: Venkaiah Naidu sworn in as country’s 13th Vice-President today President Ramnath Kovind administered them oath. Naidu went to Rajghat before taking oath of Vice-President, paid a wreath on the tombs of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. With the formation of the Vice President, Venkaiah Naidu has become the ex-officio Chairman of the Upper House of Parliament.
After the swearing in, Naidu will reach Parliament House where he will be welcomed by the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs. Several dignitaries and delegates from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several Cabinet Ministers, President Secretariat and other key administrative areas will be present at the oath-taking ceremony.

The newly elected Vice President Venkaiah Naidu will take oath as Vice President and take over as the Chairman of Rajya Sabha. He will also give his first speech as Vice President. Before this, he will swear at the ceremony organized by Rashtrapati Bhavan. On Friday, Naidu will arrive at Parliament at around 11 am and formally take charge.

After the Thanksgiving address in the Rajya Sabha, Naidu will give his first speech as Vice President. Apart from this, BJP President Amit Shah will take oath as the Rajya Sabha member. Amit Shah has reached the Rajya Sabha by winning elections from Gujarat.

 





Earlier, Naidu was elected the country’s 13th Vice-President. In this election, Venkaiah Naidu, on behalf of the NDA, was battle with former governor of West Bengal and grandson of Mahatma Gandhi Gopalkrishna Gandhi in Ground. In the total of 771 votes, Venkaiah Naidu got 516 votes, and Gopalkrishna Gandhi’s account had 244 votes.

Naidu first arrived at Rajghat from his residence 30 APJ Abdul Kalam Road and paid homage there. After that he went to DDU Park and paid homage to Deendayal Upadhyay. Now he will pay tribute to Patel Chowk on the statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. He will reach Rashtrapati Bhavan at around 09:43 am and take oath of office. After this, the Rajya Sabha will reach at around 10.30 in the morning
