World badminton championships: Saina lost in semifinals, hopes from Sindhu now

India’s star shuttler Saina Nehwal will have to satisfy Bronze Medal in the World Badminton Championship. Saina, who was ranked 16th in the world ranking, lost to the semi-finals of the ongoing championship in Glasgow (Scotland).

On Sunday, 27-year-old Saina was beaten by Japan’s Okuhara Nozomi (World No. 12) 12-21, 21-17, 21-10. Now India’s hopes are on the second semi-final, where PV Sindhu will face China’s Yufi Chen.

Saina, who had a 6-1 record against Japanese opponent Nozomi, had a tough fight this time before. Saina won the first game easily, but after winning both the games, Nojomi made the final place in the final.

However, Saina ensured the second medal (bronze) after 2015 in the World Badminton Championships. Last time (in 2015) Sain lost the final to Carolina Marin of Spain. Because of this, he had to satisfy Silver. He then became the first Indian player to win silver medal in this tournament.
