American companies’ give shock to PM Modi’s make in India project ! Wants control on technology

America’s defense companies, who want to set up production units in India, now want full ownership rights on technology under Make in India Plans. This has come to the defense minister in a letter written by the US Business Council. According to which American defense companies are not in favor of half of proprietary technology.

The companies also say that if any kind of defact comes in the products made with local partner under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s make-in-India campaign, he will not be responsible for it.




Explain that under the Strategic Partnership model of the Ministry of Defense, India is going to enter into a deal with US Defense companies. That is why American companies have put this condition.

American defense companies will shift to India

Significantly, the MiG aircraft from the Indian Air Force is on the verge of retirement. After the retirement of the MiG, India will need hundreds of new fighter aircraft. Whereas America’s Lokheid Martin and Boing are in the race to supply fighter aircraft to India.

Lokheed has offered India that if he gets an order to make the 100 single engine fighter aircraft, he will shift his f-16 production line located in Texas and Fort Worth of America to India.

Explain that Lokhid has chosen the Tata Advance System as its local partner under the Strategic Partnership Model of the Ministry of Defense. Under this model, Foreign Origin Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) with Indian partner can keep up to 49 percent share in joint venture.

The US-India Business Council (USIBC) wrote a letter to the Defense Minister last month asking for the assurance that US companies get control over sensitized technology despite public private defense partnerships. So that the companies could maintain the quality.
