bihar: Lalu’s 5th daughter got land as ‘gift’ in Patna, say BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi

PATNA: Senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi on Tuesday went on another strident attack against the family of Lalu Prasad alleging, even his fifth daughter, Hema, profited from another largesse via land, for which there is hardly an explanation.

Senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi talking to mediapersons, in Patna on Tuesday. He alleged on Tuesday that Hridayanand Choudhary, a helper (khalasi) posted at the railway’s coaching complex store at Rajendra Nagar in Patna, made an unexplained gift of 7.75 decimal of land worth Rs 62.1 lakh to Hema Yadav on February 13, 2014.

Levelling the allegation, Modi told mediaperons on the sidelines of his Janata Durbar that the long arm of the law would definitely catch up with the RJD president one day for acquiring huge landed properties through murky deals.

“This is high time for chief minister Nitish Kumar to get the matter probed. Even if he fails to do so, the investigating agencies would not spare the members of the Lalu family, who are involved in the deals,” he claimed.

Interestingly, Modi said, the same day in February 2014, one Lalan Choudhary, who was working on Lalu’s farm house, feeding animals, had gifted 7.75 decimal of land worth Rs 62.1 lakh to Hema Yadav at the same location at Danapur in Patna district.

It seems that on February 13, 2014, Lalu’s fifth daughter became the owner of about 15 decimal of land, which at that time cost around Rs 1.4 crore,” he said, adding, “at the present day land rate, both the properties cost around Rs 5 crore”.

The former deputy chief minister said it was equally interesting that both Lalan Choudhary and Hridayanand Choudhary had bought the properties from the family members of the late Devki Rai on March 29, 2008 and both of them gifted the plots to Hema Yadav on February 13, 2014.

He also wondered how neither Lalan nor Hridayanand mentioned their PAN numbers in

their gift deeds. “How could they gift their properties without having PAN numbers?” he asked.

Modi wondered about the identity of Hridayanand Choudhary and under what circumstances he gifted his valuable property to Hema Yadav.

“What was the relationship between Lalan and Hridyanand?” he further asked.

“Was it merely a coincidence that both of them purchased the properties the same day and also made the gifts same day,” he wondered.

Modi said Hridayanand got the job of a helper (khalasi) in 2005 during the tenure of Lalu Prasad as railway minister and he alleged that Prasad must have helped him to get the employment. In return, Hridayanand must have done the favour to the family, Modi claimed.

The BJP leader said the Lalu family must come forward and clear the doubts, or else people would believe that assets were their benami properties, which were bought in the name of Lalan and Hridayanand.

Modi claimed that just to remain in power, CM Nitish Kumar had compromised with his principles and totally surrendered before the RJD president.

“Or else, why is he not taking action despite the fact that the matters fall in the jurisdiction of the Bihar government,” he wondered.
