Bihar Politics: JDU Agree for Loksabha Assembly Elections doing Together”

Patna: The possibility of getting together the Lok Sabha and the assembly elections is also getting stronger in Bihar. The ruling JDU in Bihar has expressed its opinion on this matter today.

Bihar JDU’s State President Vashisht Narayan Singh said in a conversation with a local news channel that if there is a consensus among the political parties about the simultaneous elections in 2019, the party is in favor of it.

Present tenure of the Bihar assembly ends in November 2020, almost one and half year after the completion of the present Lok Sabha term.

After this statement of senior leader of JDU, Vashisht Narayan Singh, there has been a buzz about the issue in the political corridors that JDU seems somewhere agreeing for mid-term elections in Bihar.

that apart from the Maha coalition, Nitish Kumar had taken the decision of forming a new government in Bihar in the past by meeting with the BJP again. After which there is now JD (U) and BJP government in Bihar. In such a situation, the statement of the JD (U) leader in this regard is likely to accelerate political rhetoric.

Congress state president and former education minister Ashok Chaudhary, considered close to Kumar, told reporters that there was no harm to hold simultaneous elections if leaders are on the same page. “Respective party leaders should talk to their MLAs. If they agree then there is no harm to implement this. This will certainly save public money and time of public servants,” he said.

Recently, the Niti Aayog had also favoured conducting synchronised two-phase Lok Sabha and assembly elections from 2024 in “national interest”.
