Patna: The demolition of its upper structure will start from June 15 for the restoration of the Mahatma Gandhi Setu, as the Digha-Sonpur road bridge starts. The option of Gandhi Setu was waiting for Digha-Sonpur JP Seetu and Aara Chhapra Veer Kunwar Singh Setu to be commissioned. After the commissioning of both the bridges, it has been agreed to break the Upper Structure for the restoration of the Gandhi Setu Bridge.

This work will be in the western lane from Hajipur side. For this, 12 spans have been encircled. After this, further work will be further siege as the work progresses. Vehicles will continue operating on the bridge during work. Vehicles will be operated from eastern lane by diversion from work area.

Operations of vehicles will continue

All types of vehicles will continue operating on Gandhi Bridge. The company has already prepared for the restoration of the bridge. Only the state government was allowed to work. The cutting structure of the upper structure has been done by barricading and iron sheet in the preparation area to ensure the operation of vehicles in the eastern lane. With the breaking of the upper structure of the bridge, it will also be repaired. Earlier, the work of cutting has already been done with the SPAN number 46. Prabhupada Secretary of the Construction Department, Amrit Lal Meena, said that the work to break the Upper Structure for the renovation of the Gandhi Setu will start from June 15.

Western lane will be completed in two years

The work of Western Lane will be ready in two years. East Lane will be broken when the operation of vehicles in Western Lane starts. East lane work will be completed in 18 months. The upper structure of Gandhi Setu will be made of steel fabric. 1382 crores will be spent on the restoration of the bridge.
