Bihar:CM Nitish may explain why agriculture development plan fails in bihar: Sushil Modi

Patna. Senior BJP leader and former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi has said in a tone that CM Nitish Kumar told why the agriculture cabinet was dissolved. Seven decisions are why agriculture does not involve. Why has the budget of the agriculture been cut? Why did not the government give a bonus of two hundred rupees to farmers for the purchase of paddy in the election year this year? Why did all the schemes like diesel grants, agricultural mechanization, Kisan Pathshala fail badly?

He said whether CM will issue white paper and tell why the second agricultural road map (2012-17) failed. No matter how support prices are determined, if the government does not buy their produce from the farmers, then how will the farmers get the benefit? Bihar has 90 lakh tonnes of paddy this year. But, the government could buy only 18 lakh tonnes. Farmers were forced to sell paddy at a price of one and a half times. If the government is not satisfied with the activities of insurance companies under the Prime Minister’s Crop Insurance Scheme then who has stopped him from insuring farmers by opening his insurance company.

Modi said that the central government gives a grant of five percent on the interest of agricultural loans. Due to which farmers have to pay only four per cent interest. Governments of several states like Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana etc. give loans to farmers. During the NDA government, the farmers of Bihar were given a one percent subsidy on interest which has been closed for the past three years. The Central Government is endeavoring to benefit the farmers of the country with its many schemes. Is not the responsibility of the State Governments to worry about farmers’ interests.
