Bihar:Fund ok’d for salary of Sanskrit, minority school teachers

The state government on Tuesday sanctioned Rs 115 crore for payment of salaries to teaching and non-teaching staff of 531 Sanskrit schools while Rs 54 crore for those in government affiliated minority secondary schools and 72 unaffiliated minority schools.

A decision to this effect was taken by the state cabinet on Tuesday.

In other decisions, the cabinet approved a proposal to give administrative sanction for implementation of a water supply scheme in Purnia at a cost of Rs 115 crore and a drainage scheme in Bhagalpur worth Rs 32.75 crore.

The cabinet also okayed Rs 1476 crore for Bihar State Power Holding Company Limited towards payment of compensation to NTPC for TA&C losses — at the rate of Rs 123 crore per month for the 2017-18 fiscal.

Principal secretary, cabinet secretariat department, Brijesh Mehrotra said NTPC has to be compensated for TA&C losses if that goes beyond the stipulated limit in power distribution due to various factors like pilferage, poor transmission lines, absence of meters and faulty transformers.

The cabinet also sanctioned Rs 50 crore for the ongoing centenary celebrations of the Champaran Satyagraha. The funds would be spent on publication of “Gandhi Katha Sangraha”, a book on the life of Gandhi to be distributed among school students from classes 2 to 8 and 9 to 12. Another programme, “Bapu Aapke Dwar”, is also part of the Champaran centenary celebrations under which pamphlets would be printed carrying the message of Gandhi and distributed among people.

Other decisions taken in the cabinet meeting included sanction of Rs 42.99 crore as grant to Dr Rajendra Prasad Central Agrcultural University, Pusa for payment of pension to retired staff for the year 2017-18 and extension of term of Tibbi College (Patna) principal.

The cabinet also approved draft pension rules of Lalit Narayan Mishra Economic and Social Change Institute, Patna.
