bihar:Patna region comes fifth in CBSE class 10 results

patna:The overall pass percentage of the region dipped to 95.5 from 97.88 in 2016 and 98.10 in 2015. Last year, the rank of Patna region was fourth — preceded by Trivandrum, Chennai and Guwahati that had a pass percentage of 99.87, 99.69 and 98.04, respectively. This year too, Trivandrum secured the top position with 99.85% and Chennai second with 99.62%, Allahabad zone has bagged the third rank with an overall pass percentage of 98.23 while Dehradun is fourth with 97.27 per cent.

Out of the total 1,73,623 candidates who had registered in Patna zone covering schools of Bihar and Jharkhand, 1,72,296 appeared while 1,64,547 candidates were successful.

Among the examinees, 1,14,771 students had registered for board-based examination out of which 1,13,751 took the examination while 1,06,980 candidates were successful, making an overall pass percentage of 94.05. The number of candidates who took the school-based examination was 58,008 out of which 57,497 cleared the exam, making the pass percentage of schoolbased exam 99.12. A total of 537 private candidates also took the examination out of which only 70 were able to clear the same, with the pass percentage being only 13.04 in this case.

This year, the performance of differently abled students was also good. A total of 4254 students who took the examination nationwide, 3803 were successful with an overall pass percentage of 89.4. Schools of Patna also performed well as many of their students were successful by securing 10 CGPA (cumulative grade point average). Out of 317 students of Gyan Niketan, 82 students scored 10 CGPA. Out of 81 students of International School, 10 students scored 10 CGPA while in Baldwin Academy, 18 out of 249 students scored 10 CGPA. In Notre Dame, 56 out of 243 students, 28 out of 205 students in Ishan International School, 51 out of 265 students in DAV Danapur, 10 out of 97 students of Gyan Deep School and 4 out of 143 students of Patna Doon Public School scored 10 CGPA in their Class 10 results.

CBSE from the next year will remove the CGPA system and will again introduce the percentage mode for Class 10 results.
