Bihar:SIT arrests 2 more in BSSC paper leak case from patna

PATNA : The Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Tuesday arrested two persons for their alleged involvement in leaking question papers of the Bihar Staff Selection Commission (BSSC) inter-level combined examination, 2017.

Those arrested are Pinku Ranjan alias Ashish Kumar, a loco pilot and his associate Ajay Kumar.

SSP Manu Maharaaj said the SIT raided Ghoshwari and Janipur areas in Patna district following a tipoff and arrested the duo. They were brought to the state capital and interrogated, he added.

“Pinku told the police that he had received the BSSC question papers 30 minutes before the beginning of the examination. Later, he forwarded the question papers to others. Both of them have admitted to their involvement in the leak,” the SSP said.

“Pinku and Ajay have been sent to judicial custody for two weeks. Incidentally, Ajay had been arrested earlier on the charge of faking as a doctor and duping people,” he said.

The SSP further said Alok Ranjan, an accused in the paper leak case who was arrested in February early this year, had revealed their names during interrogation. “As the SIT came to know about the duo involved in leaking BSSC question papers, it intensified raids to arrest them but they went into hiding. They were finally nabbed on Tuesday,” he added.

On June 9, police had arrested Saniv Kumar, an ITI college owner, from Bhojpur in the same case.

Earlier, the SIT had busted the paper leak racket after it arrested five persons from Shivala Mor under Danapur police station on January 28 this year, while in the second round three persons were arrested on February 4. So far, 43 persons have been arrested in this connection.

The chargehseet has already been filed against 35 persons in this connection.

The SIT also arrested BSSC’s now suspended chairman Sudhir Kumar on February 24 while its secretary Parmeshwar Ram was held on February 8.
