Jonny Bairstow’s brilliant 99, studded with 14 boundaries and a six, helped England end on a high note after the home team resumed at its overnight score of 260 for six wickets on Day 2 of the fourth England vs South Africa Test at the Old Trafford cricket ground in Manchester on Saturday. South Africa struck through pacers Kagiso Rabada and Morne Morkel but it was the spin of left-armer Keshav Maharaj that denied Bairstow his fourth Test hundred.
