Railways will not charge any service charge till March 2018

Government has announced a major relief for the railway passengers. Service tax will not be taken until March 2018 when booking online e-tickets to railway passengers.

In fact , after the announcement of the ban on the ban in November last year, the government had ended the service charge after booking e-tickets for the purpose of promoting digital transactions.




At that time even though the government had ceased service charge for a limited time only. After this, the limit of exemption of service charge was increased till June 3, 2017 and for the second time till September 30, 2017.

Now, according to the new announcement, from rail passengers will not be taken service charges by booking tickets online till March 2018.

It is worth mentioning that if booking tickets for trains through IRCTC , service charge of 20 to 40 rupees is charged.

In the press issued on September 29, the Railway Board has asked IRCTC not to charge service charges on e-ticket booking till March next year.
