Tripura Governor on Diwali cracker ban: Award wapsi gang will soon fill petition on Hindu cremation banned

In Delhi-NCR, different responses are being expressed on the social media about the ban on the fireworks on the firecrackers on this Diwali. In such a way, a tweet from Tripura Governor Tathagat Roy has come under the controversy.

In his tweet on Tuesday, Roy wrote: “First Dahi Handi, today firecrackers, tomorrow the award wapsi brigade and those holding candlelight vigils may file a litigation against cremation rites of Hindus on the grounds of causing air pollution,” the Tripura governor tweeted.

The senior BJP leader-turned-Tripura Governor is known for his hard-line stance on several issues on social media. Recently, he courted controversy by calling Rohingya refugees “garbage”.

Earlier, on the verdict of the Supreme Court, author Chetan Bhagat also gave his reaction. He also expressed unhappiness over the Supreme Court decision and said that it was unnecessary to ban the sale of firecrackers. He asked, on what basis is anyone’s tradition being banned?

On Monday, the Supreme Court bench headed by Justice A K Sikri upheld the ban on sale of crackers in Delhi and National Capital Region till November 1 and said “we should see at least in one Diwali the impact of a cracker-free festivity”.
