World League semi-finals: India beat Canada 3-0 in hockey

While the eyes of everyone are on the Champions Trophy final between India and Pakistan in London, there are good news from India for Indian sports fans just a day ago. Actually, India won the second consecutive win in the Hockey World League semi-finals (2018 hockey World Cup qualifiers). On Saturday, it beat Canada 3-0. Earlier on Thursday, the Indian team had beaten Scotland 4-1.

In this match of the ongoing tournament in London, SV Sunil scored India’s first goal in the fifth minute. While Akashdeep and Sardar Singh scored in the 10th and 18th minutes respectively. India and Pakistan are in the same pool-B in Hockey World League semi-finals. Now, on 18th June, India is in competition with its traditional rival Pakistan. On the same day, in the final of Champions Trophy cricket, India and Pakistan will face each other.

On June 20, India will compete with the Netherlands. This will be followed by the quarterfinal 22, semi-final 24 and the final on June 25. On the other hand, the second semi-final of the Hockey World League will be held in Johannesburg from July 8-23 and in the final of December 1-10 in Bhubaneswar.

These semi-finals of the competition are also the qualifiers of the 2018 World Cup hockey. In addition to the top 10 teams in the World Cup, hosts and five continental champion teams will participate. India is host to next year’s World Cup hockey (November 24 to December 16, 2018).
